Why JDS Weddings

JDS

Moments that unfold naturally. Memories that feel exactly how they happened. That's what I'm here to preserve, through both photo and film.

I don't believe in staged perfection. I believe in the quiet things: a hand squeezed before vows, laughter filling a candlelit room, the way a moment can feel completely unrepeatable. These aren't just visuals. They're feelings, and they deserve to be remembered honestly.

I've been shooting weddings for over a decade, not as a job but as something I take seriously. Whether I'm guiding you through portraits or quietly stepping in to keep things moving, I'm present, calm, and paying attention to what actually matters.

This is more than documentation. It's a commitment to notice what's real, frame it well, and give you something worth keeping.

If that sounds like the kind of photographer you want beside you, I'd love to hear from you.

Born in Bristol and living in Birmingham, I’ve been creating and making just about anything since I was four.
Growing up, I was part of a creative household, with my dad as a landscape photographer and my mum as a music teacher. Weekends growing up were either spent at Scout away days, or in band camps performing to hundreds of guests. At college I dipped my toe in Film Photography, but continued to University for a degree in Music.

During University I started working at a printing lab in Cheltenham, where I became the resident studio photographer. Spending all day around rolls of film, duplicating and restoring damaged photos and photographing families in the studio got me hooked on photography, something I haven’t been able to stop obsessing about since.

Progressing with photography as a hobby, I started to experiment with different mediums, like film cameras, shooting events and my first wedding in 2013. This new found confidence spurred me on to undertake a Masters degree in Photography.

I Collect Film Cameras

My love for film cameras (specifically Japanese 90s premium compacts) started when working in the printing lab. I love anything by Contax or Yashica, but also own a Hasselblad or two.

I Am A Cat Person

I hold no apologies when I say I’m strictly a cat fan. I have two long-haired Persians, and have cared for cats ever since I was a baby.

I HAVE 45+ TATTOOS

I know looking at me you couldn’t tell, but I have a huge collection of black and grey traditional-style tattoos, mainly on my legs.
