E & L’s Winter Wedding at Pendrell Hall

Emily and Luke’s wedding at Pendrell Hall was the perfect mix of warmth, family, and winter atmosphere. Taking place just before Christmas, on December 23rd, the venue was glowing with fairy lights, candlelight, and a tall Christmas tree in the entrance hall that set the tone for a cosy celebration. There was no fake snow or over-the-top décor — just genuine warmth, laughter, and a relaxed energy that carried through the whole day.

A Laid-Back Celebration with Family at the Heart

Everything happened in one place, which gave the day a really calm rhythm. Emily and Luke kept things simple and family-focused, creating a space that felt welcoming and easy for everyone, especially the kids. From the morning prep through to the evening band, the whole day flowed naturally, without pressure or fuss.

Capturing the Light and Atmosphere

The ceremony was bathed in soft natural light, perfect for creating images that feel timeless and true. During the speeches, I used a single spotlight to keep the focus on the emotion in the room — those little reactions, the laughter, and the genuine connection between people.

Once the sun went down, Pendrell Hall transformed. The glow from the fairy lights and candles made for beautiful, cinematic portraits. Emily and Luke braved the cold for a couples shoot under the fairy lights, and it was completely worth it. Those moments captured outside, surrounded by warmth and sparkle, became some of the most magical frames of the day.

A Night Full of Music and Moments

By the evening, the party took on a singalong energy with a live band playing all the wedding classics. Everyone joined in, and it felt more like a family gathering than a performance — relaxed, joyful, and full of personality.

To close the night, we created a few dramatic portraits on Pendrell Hall’s grand staircase. Lit by flash, those shots feel timeless and elegant — a contrast to the cosy, intimate feel of the rest of the day and a perfect way to wrap up the story.

Final Thoughts

Emily and Luke’s wedding proves that winter weddings have their own kind of magic. The shorter days and darker evenings bring warmth, intimacy, and atmosphere that you just can’t get in summer. With the right light and a relaxed mindset, there’s no need to worry about the time of year — in fact, it might just give you some of the most beautiful, cinematic moments of all.
